Justin Pugh is a Senior Managing Director in the Power, Renewables & Utilities practice, within FTI’s Corporate Finance segment, and a member of FTI Capital Advisors.
During the course of his career, Mr. Pugh has prepared and conducted extensive reviews of business plans and financial projections, assisted in refinancing efforts, provided mergers and acquisitions advisory services, provided due diligence services to lenders and prospective purchasers, proposed and implemented performance improvement and liquidity enhancement initiatives, prepared forensic analyses, and provided dispute advisory and expert witness services.
Most recently, Mr. Pugh has acted as the sell side advisory to a private equity owner of a repowered wind farm in California. Further, he is currently serving as the Treasurer/CFO of Tonopah Solar Energy, a 110 MW concentrated solar power project company. Mr. Pugh was installed as interim management to restructure the project company, identify and effectuate performance improvement opportunities, negotiate a variety of agreements with counterparties, and to settle numerous disputes amongst stakeholders. Mr. Pugh has led the project company’s fraud litigation against a subcontractor and an international arbitration against the EPC contractor. Prior to holding this role, Mr. Pugh served as the Chief Restructuring Officer of a solar panel manufacturer, where he was installed to enhance the company’s liquidity position, effectuate a reorganization, and market its intellectual property, In an advisory capacity, he recently served as a buy side advisor to a private yieldco as it analyzed prospective investments in the domestic wind market . He led the financial, commercial, and operational due diligence for the ownership of the yieldco. Additionally, he has recently served as an advisor to a private equity owner of a solar/cogeneration developer, where he worked to develop the Company’s go-forward investment strategy, targeting specific customers, geographies, markets, and price points. Additionally, he has served as an advisor to the Board of Directors of the largest, global renewable energy developer, where he provided forensic analyses of the company’s activities for the period leading up to its bankruptcy.
Prior to his work at FTI, Mr. Pugh held roles of increasing responsibility in the corporate finance, FP&A, and supply chain functions, respectively, of three Fortune 500 companies where he focused primarily on ecommerce and digital strategy. His most recent corporate experience was with Amazon as a manager in the European Fulfillment Network based in Luxembourg, where he was responsible for the development of a multi-billion euro-dollar cross country, integrated supply chain. Prior to his time with Amazon, he worked in the e-commerce division of Target Corporation where he assisted in relaunching the commercial platform through facilitating the migration of its website from Amazon Web Services to an in-house, proprietary platform.
Mr. Pugh holds a B.S. in finance, summa cum laude, from Louisiana Tech University, an M.S. in finance and mathematics, summa cum laude, from Louisiana State University, and an M.B.A., with high honors, in finance and corporate accounting from the University of Rochester. He is also the holder of the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and holds the Series 7, 79 and 63 licenses, respectively.
